As we enter December the festive season is beginning to come to life within the Academy. It is as ever a busy and hectic time from performances to prelims happening across the school over the coming weeks. My Christmas letter has been emailed to Parents and I trust this gives you time to make any plans or arrangements as we approach the end of term and the end of 2019.
Below is an update of some news across the School this week;
Big Leith Giveaway
This was a great afternoon last Friday with support from many areas of our community. Thanks to all staff, parents and partners for pulling this together in support of families in most need.
Prelims
Continue to go well with our young people putting in place the best preparation they can in order to succeed. We continue with exams into next week and will support the pupils in their next steps following their feedback….whatever that may be.
Next Friday
Our last ‘normal’ Friday of 2019 will be our Christmas Jumper / dress down day. The funds of which will be going to a charity who looked after a pupil who sadly passed away and was part of the S6 year group a few years ago, this is a lovely gesture. The rest of the funds will be used to offset costs of the yearbook for S6. The ‘PR’ will start to move next week, as ever, any donation is gratefully received. I will announce Christmas plans next week for the final Friday.
Truancy calls
We will be moving to an afternoon truancy call for Parents over the coming weeks. At present this happens in the morning only. Essentially Parents will receive a text message if they are ‘tbc’ when they should be in School.
We will keep Parents Pupils and Staff updated as we put this change in place over the coming weeks. In the meantime, please ensure your registers are taken on SEEMIS for all classes.
As ever, have a great weekend.
