The penultimate Friday of the term has arrived. You will note we, like many other schools and parts of the country have been challenged and pushed by the Delta variant over recent weeks. Thank you for the ongoing work you do in echoing key messages and please continue to do all you can at home to help us all navigate the pandemic in as positive a way as possible.

Linked to this please see an attached letter from Lorna French, Acting Head of Schools.

Some key points this week;

SQA results – You will be aware that, as part of the SQA’s Alternative Certification Model for courses at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher level, our teachers are busy determining provisional grades for your child, which will be submitted to the SQA on Friday 25 June.

As mentioned in last week’s update, your child will be emailed their provisional grades after school on Wednesday 23 June; you (Parent) will also receive a copy of the letter by email.

The letter will include details of the SQA’s appeals process, details of which can be found on the SQA website: https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/79049.html

The SQA has also produced an information booklet for pupils: https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/files_ccc/SQA-Appeals-2021-what-you-need-to-know.pdf

Should you have any questions at this stage, please contact Miss Watson on admin@leith.edin.sch.uk .

P7 into S1 Transition – Thanks to Miss Watson, Ms Connell and others for pulling together a really positive and successful P7intoS1 Transition meeting for Parents, if you missed you can watch the session here https://clickv.ie/w/_qrq .

Test Kits – Pupils and Staff should take a box of test kits home next week that can be used on the last week of the holiday before we return mid August. Please collect these from the front office as usual.

Evening of Celebration – We’re working through our planning of a covid safe event plan as we try to put something together to celebrate a percentage of some of the great attitude, work rate and perseverance we have seen through this last year. Families will be kept updated, the planned event is on Wednesday next week at 7pm on Teams……link to come to those needing one.

Next week, final week – We want everyone to go into their holiday ready for a rest. Please encourage all youngsters to take the best steps they can to keep themselves safe and avoid gathering in large groups where possible. We have noticed we have had to issue more coverings recently, please try to bring your own if possible.

Term will end next Friday, more details to come next week on our planned start to the new 21/22 School Year.

Keep everything crossed for later!…..Have a great weekend from all at Leith Academy.
