As we enter December we have a busy time ahead for the final 3 weeks of term before the Christmas holiday begins.

Please continue to ensure youngsters arrive at Leith Academy in good, sensible and appropriate uniform, ready to learn;

-Leith hoodie / Plain black jumper

-Leith tie

-White shirt

-Black trousers / skirt

-Black footwear

Some key points for this week;

Lateness support – Every year I take a closer look at our timekeeping and attendance across our S1 – S6 and there are some instances around punctuality that I am hoping will improve over the coming weeks with some of our pupils.

Our day starts at 8.30am with Key Adult.

If there are particular reasons why a youngster should not be in at this time we will support Families if they discuss this with our House Head Team.

I am aware in some cases youngsters will be looking to apply into S5 and S6 at Leith Academy where we have a strong staying on rate; it is important our young adults know that their timekeeping and attendance play a large part in this decision.

We will write to Families with further support as needed and I will be tracking this area over the coming weeks to Christmas and into the New Year in the hope there is some positive steps taken.

Thank you to Families for the ongoing discussions at home linked to this positive aspect of being ready to work / learn.

Permission has been given by the City of Edinburgh Council, but now they need to secure funding through Leith Chooses. Anyone over the age of 8 can vote. Voting starts on the 20th January – so if anyone would like to support this initiative, please consider voting for Leith Runs Together.
