As we reach the September long weekend here are some updates for Families from the last week at Leith Academy;

The MVP training days went well again. We have 47 mentors in total this year, 21 returning S6 mentors and 26 new mentors. The plan now is for groups to prepare for their S1 and S2 session delivery at the end of the month/beginning of October. This is important work, see their website here New Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) resource | News | Education Scotland

Trip – Igniting change – On the theme of societal agency and young people having a voice, we had several youngsters at the Corn Exchange to discuss steps we can take around Fireworks, Bonfires, Anti social themes and Blue light services to try and make them safe and enjoyable events for all. Important work for our young adults to be involved in. See picture.

S1 Teambuilding – We had a super S1 Teambuilding event led by our Pupil support team. The events are liked to our Leith Skills for Life and our S1’s certainly demonstrated them throughout the day.

Hoping you all have an enjoyable long weekend and we will see our young people in Leith uniform ready to learn on Tuesday.
