After a busy week of ministerial visits including the Cabinet Secretary for Education Ms Jenny Gilruth on Thursday and the CEC Education Convenor on Friday for our LGBTQ Gold award, here are some key points and updates to share below;
Heart Start – Save a Life for Scotland will be hosting a live stream CPR training event as part of International Restart a Heart Day on Wednesday the 1st October. We are going to join this event as a whole school at 12 noon alongside all other Edinburgh Schools. Our aim is for all our pupils that are present that day to take part and raise awareness.
The Restart a Heart Live event will feature online demonstrations on how to carry out CPR. It will also provide explanations about what to do when witnessing a cardiac arrest, how to use a defibrillator, and offer participants the opportunity to practise CPR.
The live link can be shown in classroom as no manikins will be required in order to practice CPR, all the pupils need is a jacket in a bag, a cushion, or a teddy (to perform CPR).
Family Learning – See details of our support evening for Families to help with navigating the world of iPads, IT and digital learning.
Pupil Leadership Team – After an intense process of applications, interviews and presentations, we are pleased to announce our PLT for 2025/26

Mr Foysal Choudry, MSP

LGBTQ Gold Award – On Friday we were visited by Cllr James Dalgleish as Education Convenor for Edinburgh Council. This was the formal recognition step of the work we continue to do each day on making our school as inclusive for all as possible.
Biking success – Congratulations to Lachlin Irelan-Carmichael who competed in the Scottish Schools mountain biking championships last week. A great event with some of the countries top mountain bikers and Lachlin competing well at the highest level! There was a great picture but the file was too large to include!
Have a good weekend from all at Leith Academy.
