As we enter December next week our S4,5,6 are preparing for their assessments and our younger years are beginning to consider their subject choices for the next academic year.
Some key points and updates below;
Prelims – An important 2 weeks for the S4,5,6 as they are assessed, then get feedback via marking and learner conversations around what is going well and what they need to work on. During Senior lessons, when they are not in exams / assessments, pupils will be revising for upcoming assessments as opposed to covering new work / content. Please ensure timekeeping and uniform are in order to avoid unnecessary stress and anxiety.
Equalities – We raised awareness of Eliminate Violence against Women Day last week with some important information on this sensitive topic across our classes. This work links well with our values of respect and fairness.
Parent support session – Leith Academy are delighted to be hosting a Teen Triple P Parenting Group next term running from January to March 2026.
What is Teen Triple P? – Teen Triple P is an 8 week evidence-based programme for parents and carers of pre-teen/teenagers aged 11-16 years. The course helps parent and carers build stronger, more positive relationships and develop effective strategies for managing common teenage behaviour challenges. It provides practical tools, support and confidence to navigate the teenage years with calm, consistency and connection.
How can I get involved? – We welcome applications directly from parents and carers or someone can apply on your behalf. Applications can be made by completing our online application form found here https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/teentriplepform
Where and When -Leith Academy, 20 Academy Park, Edinburgh EH6 8JQ
Day: Tuesdays 6-8pm Dates: 27/01 – 24/03, 8 sessions.
There will be no session during the February break.
Congratulations – To Crystal Rose Kendal who was competing in Scottish National Dance comps last week. She got the 1st place Scottish champion(!) for her section in solo dance performing pirates of the Caribbean. A great achievement and one that takes a lot of training and perseverance.
Sustainability work – This week we wrked with the council’s Green Spaces team and were able to arrange for some of our pupils to take part in planting wildlife at Dalmeny Park.
With support, members of our SfL department joined in today assist the pupils throughout the project. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to contribute to the rewilding of their local environment.

Hoping you have a nice weekend.
