As we complete another busy week at Leith there have been many events and support sessions taking place, see key points below;
S2 Parents’ Eve – We hope you found the sessions with Teachers useful. If you were unable to see a Teacher please email Admin@leith.edin.sch.uk and we will get your request to the colleague who can best help.
S3,4,5,6 Vaccinations – The NHS Team are collecting consent forms next week for the Teenage Booster vacc. Please hand completed consent forms in to the office for Monday 19th January.
S5 Mock Interviews – Our S5’s followed the S4’s a few weeks ago with mock interviews. We had many employers and partners in who were extremely impressed, see a quote below;
Regional Director of Atkins Realis – “It was a great event as far as I’m concerned, well structured, well set up and (as I said yesterday) impressive performances from all of those I interviewed; I know my colleagues who also took part were equally impressed.
There are easy stereotypes of “the youth of today” that are trotted out all too regularly – the students yesterday did not conform to that stereotype in any shape or form – energetic, engaged and engaging, communicative and conversational, and were great examples of future professionals.”
S3 moving into S4 – As in previous years, as we progress through January into the spring term, we should be moving our S3’s into S4 / level 5 work over the coming weeks / months where appropriate. This prevents a situation of ‘marking time’ as we move from the BGE into the Senior Phase and helps pupils adjust to the demands of the S4,5,6.
Parent Council – We meet next Thursday at 7pm online. There will be a link sent out via our Chair and all are welcome.
