Some updates and information below for Families;

The basics…..Mobile phones – These should not be seen in lessons in order to protect learning. We are close to launching our new policy on phone free learning. Ensure iPads are brought to school and charged.

The basics…..Uniform – We keep this simple for Families;

-White shirt or polo shirt

-Black jumper or Leith Hoodie (available here https://logoxpres-schoolwear.co.uk/collections/leith-academy) or Leith tie (also available using link)

-Black trousers or skirt

-Black footwear

If a child arrives inappropriately dressed, in a crop top or ripped jeans for example, they will be sent home to change into appropriate clothing for coming to school to learn. Please discuss this at home in a supportive way to keep our policy simple and effective for all.

Future Skills workshops – Our young people at Leith Academy go into positive destinations beyond School. Part of this is due to workshops like this one, where we had stonemasonry, joinery, construction and drone pilot sessions on display this week. This provides balance to our more standard careers work linked to college, university and apprenticeship courses. A great experience for some S3’s.

Rugby success – Our U15 Girls – Angel, Makanaka, Kim (S3) and Polly (S4) and U15 Boys Alex and Dare represented Leith in Galashiels on Sunday playing in the Scottish Rugby Union PDH (player development hub) games. This is the first step in the performance pathway, and all played excellently at a regional level! 6 players is Leith’s highest representation at a regional level so far. Coach Aidan Morrice.

The W Hotel partnership – Our S3 French learners had an unforgettable experience on Thursday 7th May as they stepped inside the stunning W Hotel at St James Quarter. They enjoyed a guided tour of the hotel’s impressive spaces, including a sneak peek at the luxurious spa. Throughout the visit, pupils discovered how valuable language skills are in the world of work, especially in the hospitality industry. They also had the chance to interview multilingual members of staff and hear first‑hand how speaking different languages has shaped their careers. Their behaviour and curiosity reflected the school’s values and made us extremely proud. Mr Zirnheld, Modern Languages.

Hope you have a good weekend.
