As we enter the last week of May before our new timetable begins, some updates and messages below;

S1 Parents Eve – We had a very busy and positive evening with some very good feedback from Families and their young people. Our S1 reports will be coming out in due course to provide further updates.

New timetable June 1st – We are working through our move to the new School timetable for 26/27 and this year that also involves moving in line with almost all schools in Edinburgh to 50min periods. The changes are minimal from a Parent / Pupil perspective, Mr Stewart will write to Families with an update next week.

Bereavement Charter – We are pleased to say that we have been granted our Bereavement charter mark from St Columbus Hospice for our support to young people and their Families – it will last for the next three years.

The World of Work, S1 Hospitality Trip – See update from Ms Park. Some of our S1  pupils visited the W Hotel today to gain valuable and, hopefully, inspirational insight into the running of the hotel and the amazing employment opportunities that could be available to them after school. They had a fantastic day. The pupils took part in a bed making competition (most of them claimed to make their own bed!) and mixed their own signature mocktail. They saw the hotel’s most luxurious room ‘The Presidential Suite’ and a delicious buffet lunch. The tour finished with a Q&A session with Head of Talent, Katrin who answered all their many questions with knowledge and good humour!  Most importantly, the pupils said they could ‘see’ themselves working there … with the Spa and Restaurant particular favourites. We are very fortunate to enjoy, and are very grateful for, such an incredible partnership on our doorstep!

Rugby success – This week our S1/2 Boys and U14 Girls attended the East Emerging Schools Finals day at Peffermill, ending what has been a great season. Our S1 boys made it to the shield final, our S2 boys went unbeaten in the pool stages to get to the cup semi-final, and our U14 Girls went unbeaten all the way to lift the cup! An amazing achievement with every team playing some tough opposition. I am also delighted to announce that Leith Academy won the overall east emerging schools championship 25/26! This is the top honour in a competition with 15+ other schools, rewarding us for attending every event, having some of the best numbers, and putting in lots of impressive performances. Some photos attached, Coach Aidan.

Football success – Congratulations to Finlay Drever. His Spartans team won the under 16’s South East Region Cup on Sunday – Spartans Youth v Musselburgh Windsor. Finlay came off the bench and scored the 2nd goal to put them 2-0 up. Musselburgh got a penalty to make it 2-1 however Spartans saw the game out for a famous win!

Every Woman Event – Every Woman will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June at the Meadows to celebrate women’s health and empowerment. Details can be found online at www.everywomanfest.com
