We have had a successful week 1 of our new timetable. As ever there are things to keep working on, but the new period times have worked well with good feedback from youngsters.

P7 Marketplace – Our P7’s came up to Leith Academy where our S6 put on a fayre that outlines all of our clubs and supports……from Chess and Crochet to Netball and Nurture support. Our S6 leaders did a great job of welcoming them. Thanks to the House Head Team for pulling this together as part of our S6 induction.
Global Impact Challenge – Some of our S3 pupils today took part in the global impact challenge over the last couple of weeks involving the 4 Edinburgh based universities. Today, they went to Herriot Watt university with 3 other schools to showcase their work in this important sustainable theme. Pupils were very proud of what they achieved and enjoyed working with the universities.

S2 Boys Trophy win – Saturday 23rd May I was at Meggetland with other colleagues and Families to watch our S2 Football team win their City wide final v Royal High. Final score was 2-1 with some great performances. Team shot with Mr Bremner attached.

Football success Division 1 – Leith Atheltic V Eastside Rapids – Youth Cup Final. It was a very tight game with it finishing 1-1 sending the game to penalties. Nathan Hill stepped up to score the winning penalty with it ending 6-5 to Leith! Sean Laidlaw captained the team to victory. Al Reid was sadly out on injury but played a huge part in the boy’s journey to the final! Read all about their success below! Congratulations to our S3 Cowan boys!

City wide Athletics success – We had a team compete at the City wide Athletics championships this week, 14 Schools involved. Some superb performances and results. See below and attached….
All of our 100m runners qualified for the 100m final (Joseph Kirk, Geordie Faulkner, Isabella Gosdon, Khloe Harper , Lily Green , Justus Oluwatade)

4th in S2 100m- Isabella Gosdon
2nd in S2 long jump- Harris Hawkey
1st in senior relay- Eve Scott, Yan Kondratiev, Veronika Kosarieva, Kuba Slusarczyk

Music concert – Our Summer sessions concert last night was another great example of the musical talent we have at Leith Academy. We had a sell out night in the Drama theatre with a range of superb tracks, singing and performing. Well done to all pupils, staff and IMS instructors who help us.
The World Cup is upon this week, enjoy the build up and have a good weekend.
