As we end the School session 2021/22 we want to thank the continued and unconditional support of Parents for their children and for the school. It’s been another interesting year but we have certainly felt more like ourselves over the last few weeks / months since Easter. Some key points below to keep you updated;
Letter from Council – Please find attached a letter from Lorna French, Head of Schools for Edinburgh Council.
Parent Friendly Calendar – Our calendar of events is now in place for the new school year and can be found on our website here Calendar – (leithacademy.uk) . We hope this is useful for Parents, Pupils, Families in planning across the year. There are also key assessments included from Jan-Mar to help keep Parents aware of upcoming National internal assessments.
Extra Curricular School Football Team Coaches – We have a strong history of School Football Teams at Leith. We are currently seeking a volunteer coach to help take a S1 or S2 football team next season. Games are played Saturday morning and training sessions are optional. If interested in helping support to take a team of you would like further information please email Mr Moffat at steven.moffat@leith.edin.sch.uk .
https://asva.co.uk/jobs/Senior Summer work – Edinburgh has a strong sector in the hospitality industry with many jobs leading to development and support through progressive pathways. If Seniors are looking for a full-time, part-time, holiday or weekend work which is good fun and great experience then check out vacancies on the ASVA (Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions) website – link below: https://asva.co.uk/jobs/
Message from Scottish Water around Summer Reservoir Safety – Ahead of the school holidays, Scottish Water is urging everyone to stay safe around water this summer. We don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun but we have a huge favour to ask…
If you’re planning on spending time at local beauty spots like reservoirs, rivers and lochs with friends and family over the summer, please treat these areas with respect and don’t take risks. This is especially important at our reservoirs where there are lots of hidden dangers like underwater machinery, strong currents and deep, cold water! Watch our short film at Respect Our Reservoirs – Scottish Water and make sure you know the risks before you go.
Well done to all our youngsters and families over the last year, as ever the school year is a dynamic, lively and interesting one(!) but the overriding theme is that we work together with young people, families and partners to support the most positive outcomes we can.
Information will go to all parents via email related to the start of the new 22/23 year during July. Please take time to go over this with your child to help them have another great year at Leith Academy.
Have a great summer and see you all in August.
