Trip to Bannockburn – Our S1’s took their History learning from the classroom into real life as part of their trip to the Battle of Bannockburn centre. It was a very interesting and positive trip led by Ms Gooch and our Social Studies Team. Our youngsters were a credit to themselves and the School and enjoyed learning interactively & outdoors for part of the day.

Spring Fling 2025 – Our Spring Fling became a Summer Fling this year…..what an event it was. There were 18 acts across a wide range of genres showing the outstanding talent our young Leithers have in spades. Great work from Ms Ponte and our wider Team including our Music instructors and our S6 Leaders for putting a great show on.

Trip – Youth Philanthropy Initiative YPI – We had a group of youngsters invited to the National Conference for YPI in Perth. This was a great event and the team represented Leith Academy very well on a National platform. Thanks to Ms Steele for taking the team to Perth.

Formula 1 in Primaries – Our F1 leaders had some Primary youngsters up to Leith Academy on Thursday with tasks based on engineering, numeracy, STEM, creativity and teamwork. Trip Creative Industries – On Wednesday a group of youngsters were on a trip to Edinburgh College linked to the Creative Industries sector, see update from Mr McLeod below;

It was a Creative Industries Day. We attended the Computing workshops. These consisted of:

1. Hardware tasks: How to build a computer

2. Digital Forensics tasks: Identifying suspects from poor CCTV by enhancing images and video using software. Working out the speed of a vehicle from video footage.

3. Games Room tasks: Graphics Design and Games Design.

4. Cyber Security tasks: Packet Tracer tasks and Denial of Service DOS prevention.

The pupils were a credit to the school. Two of our pupils are already attending Edinburgh College or are planning on going there next year for an HND in Graphic and Software Design.

Mountain Bike Success – Congratulations to Lachlan Irelan-Carmichael who was representing Leith Academy in the City Wide Mountain Biking competition this week. We await final results but we know he was in the top 10 across Edinburgh!

We have one more full week to go with our new S1’s coming for their 3 day visit which is always a positive event as we meet the next generation of Leith Academy learners!

Hoping you have a good weekend from all at Leith Academy.
