S4,5,6 Parents’ Eve – We completed our Senior phase Parents’ eve this week with Cowan and Port Houses in attendance. It was a busy event with good quality learning discussions on what is going well and what our learners need to be doing next as we approach assessment window 1.
Remember – our after school / lunchtime study timetable can be found on our website here Supported Study Schedule – and our learners should make use of these sessions to help them.
Remembrance – We held our annual service with our Prefect Team who led and planned the event to help us reflect our diverse population and community. A link to our video which was shown across the School at 11am on Monday 11th Nov can be found here https://clickv.ie/w/qdMz if you would like to view it.

Our well known Team Vortex were judges during the competition, a great experience, and one they rose to. They are all now working towards their level 7 STEM leader award. Well done to all! Parent Council – Our Parent Council are meeting next Thursday 21st and it is always great to see people there to help us progress ideas and support our young people in different ways. Our PC Chair will send more info as needed, but all are welcome to come to the staff room for a 7pm start.
Be an MCR Mentor – MCR Pathways MCR Pathways – Nationwide Mentoring Programme are currently recruiting mentors across Edinburgh. We have some brilliant young people waiting to be matched in Leith Academy and other schools across the city, however unfortunately we don’t have enough mentors available to match them all at the moment. Without sufficient mentor numbers we are unable to offer the valuable support that the Young Talent Programme can provide young people as quickly as we would like to.
I know a lot of you will be teaching full time and might not be able to commit, but if there is anyone within your circle of family, friends or colleagues that you think might be interested in giving an hour a week to be a volunteer mentor, I’d be most grateful if you could pass on the link below for some more information, or to sign up. We have a real need for more male mentors, as I currently only have one available.
Become a Mentor – MCR Pathways
There are no qualifications or experience needed, just a willingness to show up, listen and see a young person’s potential. If anyone has any questions at all, please just let me know.
Thanks, Jack – MCR Co-ordinator at Leith
Hope you have a great weekend.
