As we come to the end of another calendar year I want to wish all Young People, Staff, Families and Partners a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for the continued support and advice you give our young Leithers as we work together to help them develop and progress through school and life. Have a great break as we prepare for 2026.
Pupils return Tuesday 6th Jan in simple Leith uniform, ready to learn.
Some key updates and points;
Where Leith Academy began – We head to Leith Parish Church later this morning, where Leith Academy began in 1560, to end the year and wish all a nice holiday. We aim to finish the service around 12 midday and pupils will be dismissed from the Church on the Kirkgate.
Merry Christmas Card – This year’s card design is attached and was sent across the City to other Schools, Members of Council and our Partners locally, Nationally and Internationally. Well done to Zaynb!
School Show – Our talented musicians once again delivered a wide range of festive performances alongside some other unique and bespoke performances in our Theatre. We had 3 shows to ensure all Families got the chance to experience the event. Thanks to Ms Ponte and all of our School staff and Instrumental staff for putting on a great event.

Youth Philanthropy Initiative YPI – We held our annual final where S3 youngsters put forward their presentations to secure £3000 for a charity. As ever these were well planned, organised and communicated by the young people in a very mature and professional manner. Well done to Crew 2000 charity, and to the team members Andrew, Zara, Zara C and Athena who won £3000 to support work around addiction. Great work from Nadia and the team pulling this annual great event together once again.

Care Home visit – Some of our pupils visited our local Care Homes to hand out some homemade cards they had created. The youngsters showed great values of respect and care when they provided some company for the residents. Thanks to Hazel and Chris for leading.
