As we end the term at South Leith Parish Church, where Leith Academy began in 1560 we will reflect on the year and look for ward to 2025 and the opportunities we hope it brings our young adults.
Our Service ends at 12midday and we will dismiss youngsters from there as per previous years.
Some points of note below;
In Service 2025 – Staff return on 6th Jan for In Service with Pupils returning on 7th Jan in Leith uniform ready to learn for a 8.30am start.
Christmas Show – This was a wonderful example of the talent and dedication across our young people, staff and partners. It was our biggest sell out yet with festive song, dance and performance. Well done to all involved! See picture.
Youth Philanthropy Final 2024 – Another great year where young people went out and met / engaged with various charities and presented their case for their charity to win £3000. The panel had another tough year of judging but decided that ‘Steps to Hope’ were deserving winners in a very tightly contested event. They do great work to help homelessness, addiction recovery and support mental health. Well done the team and thank you to our judging panel. See picture.
S2 into S3 Parent Info Evening – This one comes round quite quick after we return so thought a save the date would help Families. It’s an important time as our S2’s begin to think about their subject choices into S3. An email has been sent separately to Families;
Jan 9th and we start at 6.30pm in the Theatre at School, it’s always a busy and useful evening for Families.
House Points galore! – There have been several events over the last few weeks all contributing to the House Cup at the end of the year. Latest points issued are;
-Scientist of the Month awards from Aug-Dec……1st Anderson 2nd Port 3rd Cowan 4th Barton
-Merits term 1, we issued more merits in this window than we ever have compared to previous records which is great!…..1st Anderson 2nd Cowan 3rd Port 4th Barton
-Modern Languages Xmas card comp 2024…..1st Port 2nd Anderson joint 3rd Barton / Cowan
With many more competitions and events to contribute it will be a close run to the Final results in June 2025.
