As we enter October next week see below some key updates and news including road safety, trips and wider activities for youngsters;
Road Safety – Please note the double yellow lines in place at the road / bend next to our front entrance. Drivers, please drive with care when taking this bend as children are crossing and other vehicles may be oncoming, we do not want an incident or road accident. There is also no parking / waiting on the double yellows to allow enough space for cars to pass safely on said road bend.
What are you up to? – We want to know what our youngsters do outside of School. This can be a lunch club, an after school club, a community club, a sports club, volunteering – anything where they are involved in wider activities beyond school.
Our Key Adult Teachers (registration teachers) are completing the form with their classes, but you can complete the form as Parents also. Form is here with a deadline of Tuesday 8th October.
Maths Week Scotland – We have held activities all week linked to numeracy and Maths as it plays a vital role in the life chances of young people. Some of our Seniors were competing also….
Five senior girls: Ciao Tsai, Anne Marie Jiang, Simran Rawat, Sofia Cordero Tachikake & Abisha Chapagain
Took part in the UKMT Maths Olympiad for Girls (MOG) this week. We won’t know their results for 2-3 weeks; however the girls worked extremely hard, and the MOG is a very challenging competition. Congratulations for taking part representing Leith!
All five of the girls enjoyed the challenge and are already preparing for next week’s Senior UKMT challenge. Attached a picture of the girls hard at work.
How to pass National Qualifications – We had a successful evening with many families getting updates and information for the S4,5,6 year ahead. Ms Watson has emailed the presentation that has key info, after school revision, QR codes and revision tips included. Thank you to staff who supported and our Prefects who helped present based on their experiences.
S1 and S2 Reports – These are in the final process of being checked and will be sent to Families directly with a covering letter explaining the terminology to help.
Mandarin Chinese culture trip – On Monday, our S3 Mandarin class had a great opportunity to taste a variety of Asian cuisines in a city centre restaurant. They really enjoyed the chance to learn about Asian culture first hand. See picture.
International visit next week – We have a group of teachers and learners from Denmark visiting us next week to see the work we do to support young people and their Families day to day.
S1 Key Adult Parents’ Eve – Just a reminder of October 10th is coming up for S1 Parents as part of our settling in evening. More details will follow from Mr Stewart in due course.
Have a good weekend from all at Leith.
