With Fireworks night upon us, stay safe and enjoy any community planned events with friends and family.
Key points:
Parents’ Eve – Well done to all last night re S4,5,6 Parents’ Eve, initial briefings from staff suggest the night was, for most, a positive experience in terms of connectivity. Hopefully the discussions around progress for our young adults will trigger an early chance to support and plan next steps to youngsters achieving their positive outcomes! If you had issues please email Admin@leith.edin.sch.uk and we will help.
Remembrance – Thursday 11th we will hold our service with Prefects and Rev Ian May at our memorial near the front doors of the School. Our plan is to video this and stream live to classroom screens. Poppies are available at front door with donations.
Live N Learn – We have an S4 session planned for Tuesday next week with our longstanding partners Home | Live-N-Learn . The session for all S4 is aimed at helping pupils to lead their own revision, planning, organising and learning. Jen Kemp has delivered great sessions in the past and we hope the year group benefit from this input and investment in their outcomes.
UCAS – Schools are governed by the national timelines of Universities re applications. Personal statements are well underway but please be aware of deadlines to help get the right info in at the right time. Speak to staff if you need support.
Scotland’s Biggest Parent Event – Especially for S3-S6 but also beyond. During w/c 15 November, Developing the Young Workforce are running the ‘Scotland’s Biggest Parent Event’.
The launch event is on 15th November at 7pm with a full week of opportunities for parents and carers to learn from experts about the future jobs, growth industries and the skills that will be needed in the workplace of the future. This includes information about Careers, Jobs, Pathways, Skills and Scotland’s Young Person’s Guarantee. The event also has a focus on young people with additional support needs through our partner Enable Scotland.
By booking here, parents can access the link to this and watch either on the night or at a time that works for them.
This is the first time for a while Pupils, Parents, Partners, Staff have been in full throttle heading towards Christmas, since 2019 in fact. Great to be back but make sure we get the right balance of work and play.
Have a good weekend.
