Another very busy week at Leith with the new timetable for 2025/26 now well underway. Some key points and updates below;
If you have any questions please email School on Admin@leith.edin.sch.uk or speak with Mrs Dewar or your House Head.
Timetable 25/26 – This is now underway thanks to the work of Mr Stewart and our Office Team. As we progress through the last few weeks and post exam results there will be changes that can be discussed. Getting to a settled timetable position as soon as possible is a priority for all pupils.

Edinburgh Netball Tournament – On Monday after school, Ms Grant from our PE Team held a netball festival for S3 teams across Edinburgh. There was a great turnout with teams from Queensferry, Royal High, Craigmount, Portobello and Currie coming across to Leith for the afternoon.
Our Leith team finished joint 3rd overall and played fantastic! See picture.

S6 Leaving Dinner / Prom – This is next Friday at The Scotsman Hotel as we say farewell to another fantastic year group of young adults.
P7 Marketplace – As part of our new S6 Induction, our S6 created stalls and activities for our new S1 to come and be involved in. The stalls demonstrated the wide range of activities, clubs and events we have on offer at Leith Academy. The event also develops the leadership, organisation and communication skills of our new S6 young adults. See picture.

2025/26 Prefects – The annual process to select the prefects for another year is underway. This is a real life application process which will then be followed by our process to select the Head pupil Team for 2025/26. Whatever the outcome, this process is a good one for young adults to be part of if they are interested in the role.
S2 Fit For Girls Team Building Day – Throughout the year, a group of S2 girls have been taking part in Fit For Girls workshops. To reward them for their hard work and commitment, the group went on a team building trip to Fox lake Adventure Park! They did some woodland team building activities before lunch and then got to go on the aqua park. See picture.

S4s supporting St Marys (Leith) Sports Day – Three of our new S4s teamed up with Holyrood high school pupils to assist in their annual sports day! PE Teachers of the future!
New S6 + S3 Leaders supporting prospect bank sports day – This week we took 22 pupils to a local special school ‘Prospect Bank’ to help them with their sports day. This annual event is always a great start to Leadership program, and it strengthens the link between the special school and us. For the first time we had S3s attending also to get an idea of leadership opportunities. See picture.

Smokey Brae and Marionville improvement project – As part of the Edinburgh Street Design Guidance, we have recently published the Women’s Safety factsheet. As part of the current stage of the Smokey Brae and Marionville improvement project we are planning to conduct Women’s Safety in public places audits on the proposals (see audit proforma here).
In addition, see the link to the Marionville Road consultation as you see fit with your pupils, staff and parent council, to enable them to respond and influence the proposals should they wish to.
