Some updates for Families below;

Feedback to plan – Thanks to 250 Families who have completed the questions to help me look at what we are doing well and what we need to consider. We work hard at trying to create a supportive and purposeful atmosphere, hearing from Families helps us review that each year…..an email has been sent with the link, if you are able to complete it will help in my self evaluation – thank you.

Vaccination – HPV/MMR letters have been distributed to pupils this week which will take place in school, on Monday the 8th of June. Please ensure these are completed and handed back to the medical room no later than Friday the 13th of March.

S6 Final Day – This year is more complex with dates linked to Qualification Scotland exams, Council guidance and our own local planning. Ms Watson will write to all Families with more details next week, but some broad points below to help;

-The S6 Coffee morning will be on Tuesday 21st April over the morning from 9-11am

-All pupils sitting Spanish (Wed), Geography (Thurs) and Business (Friday) will be on exam leave but can still attend classes for final support and can attend the coffee morning for the annual activities (Yearbook, shirt signed, farewell speech)

-Council has directed that exam leave for S4,5,6 (those not in Span / Geog / Bus Ed) will begin on Thursday 23rd April at 3.16pm

S3 Parents’ Eve – A very well attended and successful evening on Thursday with Parents and Teachers talking over the plans and thoughts of our S3 as they move into the Senior Phase of S4. Please ensure course choice forms are in by the deadline to help our timetable process.

Rights Respecting Schools Conference 2026 – Some of our young adults where at Merchiston Castle to discuss our plans for Leith in the important area of children’s rights. Some great work across the day working with youngsters from Primary Schools in a leadership capacity. Thanks to Mr Connor for leading this work.

DYW Event – This event has live jobs available in the City ‘now’. Any S5,6 considering leaving for employment, or looking for part time work, should attend after speaking to their House Head, details below;

Info session on neurodiversity – See info below which may be of interest to Families.

In partnership with Tailor Ed Foundation we are offering information sessions for parents and carers with neurodivergent school aged children, with or without a diagnosis. We will explore a range of topics including:

  • Sensory Experiences
  • Everyday skills, impulse control, memory, tasks
  • Emotional co-regulation and relationships 
  • Energy Management, avoiding burnout
  • Gaming interests and self-regulation
  • Talk Time

Well Being drop in – We have started a drop in session for all pupils wanting some support, it is led by Isla one of our Youth Workers. Details in the poster below;

Rugby success – As we enter a huge weekend for Scotland, see update from S6 Coach Aidan…….Our S1 and S2 teams were at Scottish Rugby’s East Emerging Schools festival yesterday at Meadowmill. Our S1 boys won two of their three games and our S2 boys secured a positive win against Castlebrae. It was a great day, and the boys maintained an excellent attitude throughout.
