Our website front page now has the 2024/25 Pupil Leadership Team on display as we come to the end of another positive week.
Some updates and key points of information are below;
S1 Teambuilding Activity Day – A great day for our S1’s again this year as they engaged in a range of activities that helped them develop our Leith Skills. Thanks to all colleagues who planned, led, delivered and supported.
International trials – We are pleased to hear that Jonny Petty, Kieran Ross and Calum Learmonth have been invited Scotland U18 National Football trials. Wishing these young men all the best in this competitive field.
After School Clubs – We have a range of clubs after School that are not sport related. Getting involved in these wider achievement opportunities is important for young people. Keep an eye on the bulletin emailed to Families every week, for now here is a range below;
-S4-6 Maths club – Wed lunch – Ms Duggan, Maths
-S1-3 Maths club – Thurs lunch – Ms Duggan, Maths
-Maths supported study – Mon, Wed, Thurs lunch and Tues pm – Maths dept
-Chess club – Mon lunch – Maths dept
-Gaming club – Library break and lunch – Joe, our Librarian
-Programming club – Wed pm – Ms Stevenson and Alfee Rahman, Head Pupil
-DofE program – details to follow for this 24/25 School year – Mr Miller and Ms Kelman
-Pupil council – Thurs lunch – Mr Stewart
-Formula 1 in Schools – we have teams of 6 people in these year groups. 1xS2, 1xS3, 1xS4 1xS5. Our new S1 Team tbc in the new year post January – Ms Leggatt, CDT
-Anti-racism club UFC (Unite For Change) – Thursday lunchtime in the club house. Open to all S1-6 – Grace, our IYS worker
-Model United Nations/Debating club – Wednesday lunch – Mr Connor, House Head
-Choir vocal group – Thurs 3.20 – 4pm – Ms Ponte, Music
Groups will form over the course of the year, as noted above these will be announced via the Pupil bulletin which is emailed to Families. If you have any questions email us on Admin@leith.edin.sch.uk and we’ll direct you to the best placed colleague to help.
Road closures – The council roads team have been in touch re disruption to our local area due to works. Info below;
The footway on Lochend Road (between Vanburgh Place and Hermitage Park Grove) will be resurfaced in the coming weeks. The work is scheduled to commence on or around 30 September 2024 and will take approximately 20 weeks to complete, with a break over the Christmas period. All works shall be undertaken between the hours of 0700 to 1900 Monday to Friday and the project will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption. Pedestrian walkways will be provided while the works are underway.
Dates for Parents –
18th Sept – We will hold an S1 Parental support session for digital technology support. These sessions are targeted at helping families. Details to come soon.
26th Sept – Our popular ‘How to pass your National Qualifications’ session for S4,5,6 Parents will be held at School with a 6.30pm start. Details to follow.
SQA 2025 – The exam timetable for next summer has now been released on the SQA website. All S4,5,6 should be familiar with this site.
