Some key updates and information below;

We are here to help – At Leith Academy our Office Team work hard to ensure they can respond to calls, emails, group call texts and visitors to the School in a proactive and positive way. In line with Council policy, it is incredibly important that any contact made to the School is carried out in a way that is respectful and considerate. Regrettably on occasion, there are instances where this has not been the case, hence the request to please be mindful of our colleagues when contacting the School.

Achieve – Thanks to everyone for supporting the S3 Achieve class’s £10 Challenge event today. They made a total profit of £160.06! They will be use the money raised to support a local charity which they will decide over the coming weeks.

Leith Xmas Giveaway support – Our Giveaway is just 2 weeks away now. If we are to really support those families struggling in the Leith area this Christmas, we need donations. We need:

  • non-perishable food stuff – biscuits, chocolate, jams, pasta, sauces…
  • gift sets/other unwanted gifts (jewellery, photo frames, trinkets…)
  • unused pet gifts, food supplies

If you can help please hand in to the office, with our sincere thanks in advance.

Prelims – All Families and pupils have been sent their timetable and details of the Prelim assessments from Ms Watson. Revision and preparation are now very important in every lesson in order to help young people gain positive marks in their prelims; these marks may be required in May in the event a young person is unable to sit an exam…..this happens every year for a range of reasons, so working hard on these assessments is important.

English / Amnesty Trip – Attached is a group shot of S3 pupils who partook in the Words that Burn Workshop with Amnesty International. All pupils had created a poem in class based on a human rights issue of their choice. They then went to workshop to develop their performance skills. Some stayed on for the Showcase event in the evening and performed their poems. They were spectacular!
