As the weeks progress we are getting back into the full throttle life of a busy, dynamic, city Secondary School in the heart of Leith….and all that brings.

It’s great having everyone back and we are doing all we can to support positive learning, engaging and being with friends.

The releasing of restrictions is positive, but we will continue with our mitigation steps to be safe in light of developments in other parts of the country and down south. You can find our staggered times in last weeks post.

SQA – S4,5,6 families have been sent a separate email. The SQA have produced updates for Pupils and Parents, we have adapted these in reference to Leith Academy for ease, they can also be found on the SQA website.

21/22 Session Date changes – HT’s have been asked to highlight there have been changes to the original terms dates plans around Christmas 2021, notably we break on 17th Dec. Please check the council site for further details Term dates – The City of Edinburgh Council .

Evening of Celebration 2021 – We are keen to hold an event within appropriate guidelines and are looking at options. We will keep all posted over the coming weeks.

Uniform – Covid has impacted the normality of many things, with our PE changing rooms being out of commission (awaiting further updates at lev2). Our flexible plan for now is that pupils wear either;

-School uniform

-Suitable PE clothing for participating in sport

Over recent weeks there have been variations on this that have drifted from what we would expect / hope for. Our Senior team will have conversations next week with youngsters as they arrive, please have a positive discussion at home around what to wear to work, this will really help.

Summer term is a busy time of year with SQA, quality assuring, transition, new timetable, improvement planning, celebrating pupil achievement, new calendars and time lines to be set for 21/22 and all of this alongside our daily support for the pupils – it makes for busy but quick weeks!

With that in mind, enjoy the weekend.
