As we enter February with a week to go until the mid term break, here are some updates below.

Assessment window 2 – The assessment and tracking processes we enter every year are now well underway particularly with our Senior Phase youngsters. This is an important time for them; we held assemblies this morning with S5 and S6 (S4 last week) on making sure they are doing the basics well and respecting the National Assessments they are involved in.

If Parents / Families have any questions please email and we can direct your query to the best placed colleague – Admin@leith.edin.sch.uk .

LGBTQ+ Support work – As a School we work hard at developing and learning within this area. We were one of the first schools in Edinburgh to be recognised for this work some years ago through the LGBTQ Schools Charter, but the work is never done. We held a further staff session last week as we continue to learn and develop in this key area of support for young people in our School and across our communities. Thank you also, to our young adults who lead our Pupil group in this important area of our equalities work.

Inter House – Another positive week for Inter House Basketball with Port coming out on top. This means the running totals for the House Cup 2023/24 as it stands are very close across all places!

Port 260 points

Barton 260 points

Cowan 220 points

Anderson 210 points

International Success – See below a great achievement from our own Ming Chang Zheng (no5 in the pic).

The Scottish Team qualified straight to the final round of the U20 European Championship 2024 (for the first time in Scottish Volleyball History!) which will be held in Serbia & Greece later this year.

During the competition they were undefeated, the 8 teams who have qualified for the final round of the U20 European Championships are:

Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, France, Slovenia, Finland, Poland and of course Scotland!

Congratulations Ming, keep us updated with the summer results.

Hoping you have a good weekend as we enter the final week of the half term, from all at Leith Academy.
