As we complete our first week back here are some updates in what is an important phase within schools. Once again our youngsters are doing great work on a daily basis to reach their goals and develop as young adults / citizens in their communities.

S4,5,6 Focussed Mentors – We have well over 20 staff supporting this program in the final run in to the National Assessments. If your child is being supported through this program (we use tracking info to target support), which is led by Mr Ferns in our PE Team, we will keep you updated with discussions and targets that have been put in place between the mentor and the young person, to help them reach their aspirational goals! Details to follow.

Parent questionnaire – Please complete our annual Parent survey to help us see what is going well and what we can look at developing for the future! The link is here https://forms.office.com/r/c7n9kdXJMj and if you can complete by next Friday 1st March that will allow us time to analyse and make plans. Thank you!

Key date reminder – We have S3 into Senior Phase Parent info evening next week (Thurs 6.30pm). S3 Parents Eve in person 7th March 4.30-6.30pm. Email to come re booking appts. We look forward to seeing you all at these important events as our youngsters plan their pathways!

Study / Exam Leave guidance – Edinburgh Council will be issuing the guidance for all Secondary Schools over the coming days. We will then issue the information to Families with any Leith context included. As we know, this is an important 5 weeks in the run up to Easter, our plans for Easter revision classes are well underway, details coming soon.

LGBTQ+ Sponsored walk – We are proud of the diverse nature of our Leith community, as part of Purple Friday we held a sponsored walk with over 50 young people. Thank you to the colleagues who pulled this together and raised money for the charity supporting young people.

School Libraries – Please see an important update from the Council…..

Your library, your say

An engagement and consultation process is currently being carried out to gather views and feedback on service provision. This will help shape a new strategy for Edinburgh’s libraries and inform future proposals for change. Between the 26th of   January and 19th of April we’re asking you to get involved in this first stage by having your say and helping us to shape a new plan that will ensure the library service is sustainable and fit for the future. More information and link to the online questionnaire can be found at https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/futurelibraries

 Thank you. Edinburgh Council
