As we leave January and enter February we have 10 working days to go until the half term week. There is plenty of focus and business to take care of, together, in that time.
Key points;
Cultural Calendar – We had a Burns influenced day on Tuesday last week, thanks to all who contributed and flashed some tartan. The recitals were also excellent and added to a feeling of pride in Scotland.
Start of day – As we continue to work through the cleaning regimes in place, can youngsters please look to arrive for 8.25am and not come into the building earlier. This allows the cleaning team to finalise and Teaching team to prepare.
New phone system – We have installed a new system to help direct calls to the right people quicker.
When you call our 0131 554 0606 number there are options to:
- Report a pupil absence – Parents please clearly state the;
- name of your child
- their class
- the reason for their absence (very important so we can log it correctly)
- Contact the office
- Contact the janitors
If the absence is covid related, please press 2 and speak to the office after 8am. The phone line will be available 24/7.
Assessment Window 2 – We have 9 working weeks until the Easter break, following Easter we move into the National Assessment / Exam timetable; effort, commitment and perseverance will be key in these coming weeks. To help pupils and Families gauge progress we will run our Assessment window 2.
Ms Watson will keep pupils and all updated with details, the dates are as follows;
-Window begins Monday 7th Feb 2022 and will run until Friday 25th Feb (there will be no assessments during the holiday)
-Not all subjects will use this exact window due to the nature of their coursework, they will communicate their plans with youngsters directly.
S4,5,6 Reports Track 2 – These are being finalised by Heads of Dept and will be emailed shortly direct to Parents. These will hopefully trigger positive, supportive discussions to help youngsters achieve their success and goals!
S4,5 Course Choice – This process is now beginning to get underway. Mr Stewart will email specific details to help with this process. It is an important time and talking is key. Some useful supports may be….
