As time flies by, 3 weeks today is Christmas day but we have lots to complete and continue before the well-earned break.

Some key points of info;

Dates

As per the Scottish Govt update, school term dates will remain as planned. For Edinburgh we finish at 12 midday on Tuesday 22nd December 2020. Our Parent friendly calendar is available on our website.

Awareness high

We must continue to keep our awareness high around keeping ourselves safe from infection. Our steps linked to masks, hand san, 2m, one way, spray / wipe down remain as important as they were in August. As of 11th December (next Friday) any Covid positive case in any School may involve ‘close contacts’ having to isolate for up to 14 days – this would overlap Christmas Day.

As ever we are not able to completely remove risk, but we must continue to do what we can to prevent. If you or family members have symptoms please follow the national guidance and keep your child off school until you have a test result.

Assessment window

We have completed week 1 of our assessment window and our S4,5,6 have handled the situation with maturity and calmness. We understand it is a tense time for youngsters as they want to achieve the best they can. We will continue to support them with our marking / feedback to plan for next steps.

Christmas Jumper Day

To help provide some sort of Christmas atmosphere in a safe way, we will be holding our Christmas Jumper Day next Friday!

PARENTS – to help raise money to support good causes, please donate £1 or whatever you can to our ParentPay account which will be set up early next week. £1 per head would help us raise nearly £1000 which would go a long way in some cases. This is a voluntary contribution, but if you can help this is appreciated.

Have a good weekend from all at Leith Academy.
