S1 break and lunch – Following a successful first few weeks at Leith Academy, from Monday, our S1’s can now have the choice at break and lunch to leave School and use shops in the community. Being a respectful citizen in terms of behaviour, litter and respect to all are important aspects when using our community. Please discuss this at home with your child. Full letter attached.

Parents, get the Class Charts App – By downloading the app you will see all the great things your child is doing at School! All teachers at Leith are now using Class Charts. This is an online platform used by teachers to manage classrooms and track student behaviour and engagement progress. It helps teachers to promote positive behaviour and improve communication between school and home.

To log on to class charts you will need a unique code that is linked to your child. This was distributed to all pupils in the first week of term. If you have not received your unique code letter – please ask your young person to go to the school office to collect or email admin@leith.edin.sch.uk

Mentors in violence prevention – Another great turn out this year as our young adults in S5 and S6 were trained in being active bystanders. Thanks to Ms Simpson for leading this and to colleagues who supported delivery. The impact now begins as they work with younger pupils as role models. Info here Mentors in violence prevention (MVP) | Resources | Education Scotland

Important! Free School Meals – Pupils / families who are eligible must re-apply for FSM every school year. Pupils are putting their code in the canteen and it is not showing, the link is here Free school meals, milk and school clothing grants – The City of Edinburgh Council . Any questions please speak with your child’s House Head or email us on admin@leith.edin.sch.uk

Hoping you have a great weekend from all at Leith Academy.
