Another busy week at Leith Academy as we progress through November. Some key points of information for this week;

Parents’ Eve

Thank you to all Staff and Parents who contributed to making this a largely positive experience. Throughout Covid we have boldly embraced new ways of working. Our sole aim was to provide some form of face to face feedback in a Covid friendly way. We received some very positive feedback and also some useful feedback on next steps which we will take up with the company being used across many Edinburgh Schools.

As ever contact via phone or email on Admin@Leith.edin.sch.uk at any point if you have any concerns about progress and we can direct your email to the best person.

Enhanced Coverings

Thank you for the ongoing work in echoing the enhanced expectation of face coverings in S4-6 classrooms. In Edinburgh we are Level 3 therefore coverings should be worn whilst in classrooms, irrespective of 2m distance for S4-6. Those medically exempt remain unchanged but should carefully follow other mitigations.

This step is in addition to;

-Hand san on arrival

-2m where possible

-Wipe / Spray down with pupils and / or staff end of lesson

-Use of external doors where appropriate

Assessment Window 1 (previously Prelims)

We are continuing to plan with Dept Heads / Teams around our first set of class assessments to help us ‘take stock’ of where pupils are and beginning to build up their folio of evidence that demonstrates a predictor of working levels. Ms Watson will keep Pupils and Families updated on how this develops over the coming weeks.

Remembrance 2020

We are working up our Covid friendly memorial service with the Prefect Team and our Rev Ian May. We will pause for thought as always at 11am on Wednesday. See our post of last week for details of how to donate.

P7 into S1 Info Evening

Our 2021 S1 Parents will be invited to our online info session on Thursday next week at 6.30pm. Messages have gone to our cluster HT’s and we will send out tweets linking the schools. We normally have a fantastic display with faculties and team members showing the great work alongside our Prefect tour….alas not this year but we will do what we can. Ms Watson will keep in touch with our P7 Primary Schools.

Have a good weekend.
