As we enter the final full week of the calendar school year it’s back to pre pandemic business with shows, events, celebration and success across the school! Some key points below;

Christmas Show tickets – These are selling fast so please get your ticket through Parent Pay. If you have any questions email Admin@leith.edin.sch.uk. The planning is pointing towards a great night of performance and celebration!

Christmas Jumper support – The national day was yesterday (Thurs), we will have a voluntary joint school effort next Friday whilst trying to raise some funds to support various causes at school.

Christmas Lunch – Our kitchen team are planning this for next Thursday, details to follow in our bulletin next week.

Young Philanthropy Initiative Final – Our YPI Final Home | YPI (ypiscotland.org.uk) is on Thursday afternoon and as ever promises to be a great event focussed on a great purpose of supporting charities. Mrs Steele will keep all posted with details.

Mid Year Assessments / Prelims – These are complete other than some listening papers and any youngster who missed a paper. The next process is important as staff mark and provide feedback to youngsters. This will come through as Track 2 reports in the new year and should trigger productive discussions between home / school / learner. Thank you to home for the calm support and to our staff / invigilating teams for pulling all together.

S2 Track 2 Reports – These reports are being finalised / checked then will be sent direct to Parents. Use the report as a way to gather quick feedback on progress and trigger any proactive discussions with School as needed. Link in through your child’s House Head or email Admin@leith.edin.sch.uk .

Our S2’s are getting set to consider their S3 pathways and this information / discussions always help with this.

Parents info on Rights of Children – See the launch of the new Guide to Children’s Rights for Parents, Carers and family members. This resource provides information about children’s rights and introduces the United Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

The booklet was created by the UNCRC Parents Network, made up of parenting organisations and Scottish Government policy officials, who have been meeting for over a year to look at how best to inform parents, carers and family members about the rights of their children. More information can be found here: Children’s rights | Parent Club .

 If you would like any more information please contact shelly.coyne@gov.scot

Industrial action – As well as things can in situations like these, the processes and arrangements put in place supported a safe and respectful position to raise concerns between union bodies and employers. The profession remains hopeful of a resolution being found asap, if not there are further dates planned. To help with planning, the next date is Wednesday 11th January unless a resolution can be found between Unions and Scottish Govt. More details if needed in the new year.

Strep A – As per the National advice to Parents through the media. Please find attached an information sheet to help raise awareness.
