Following the announcements yesterday from Nicola Sturgeon First Minister and John Swinney Deputy First Minister we will continue to plan our next steps.

Andy Gray, Chief Education Officer has written to all Parents. The letter can be found here and you should have received a text taking you to the Council website.

The SQA latest statement and next steps can be found here https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/95281.html . In short Mr Swinney has indicated that there will be no National 5 exams in 2021. Schools will work closely with the SQA on how we can best capture learning across the school year as we progress through courses. Clearly pupil application, effort, perseverance and commitment will play a key part in the coming months as we continue to adapt and work together through the pandemic.

As it stands today, Higher and Advanced Higher exams are being planned for. The date has changed from the original date and they will begin May 13th 2021 and continue until early June. This of course is subject to change as the pandemic continues. We will work to find ways with SQA to capture learning throughout the year.

The Parent calendar has been updated on our website to help your planning and can be found here https://leithacademy.uk/calendar/ .

Mike Irving, Head Teacher will provide our usual update tomorrow; we felt today it was important to keep you updated of the developments specific to yesterday (Wednesday).

Thank you from Leith Academy
