The Youth Philanthropy Initiative Final is on Thursday (19th Dec) afternoon and we look forward to showcasing our S3 presentations for this year.

We will reveal the names of the finalists to the pupils today, and those pupils will be out of lessons for the day on Thursday so that they can rehearse during periods 1-4.

The actual final will begin at 1.30pm in Leith Academy and, as in previous years, we would like S2 and S3 to be the audience.

The final ought to finish by 3pm and the S2/3 pupils can be dismissed from the Games Hall at that point.

The S3 have put in a great deal of effort again this year and as a Faculty, we have been pleased with how the pupils have responded to the challenge and performed throughout their YPI experience.  It could not of course take place without the good will of the staff who accommodate the pupils by letting them out of class to visit their charities.  On their behalf, thank you all very much.

Finally, whilst the winning charity will receive £3000 from the Wood Foundation and Leith Academy, we are also in a position to present two further cheques for £100 each.   As a result of the £5 Challenge during the S6 induction and the summer end of term non-uniform day, we are able this year to give the second and third placed charities a contribution of £100 towards their work.

Thank you again as we look forward to Thursday afternoon.
